Ellen DeGeneres got very emotional as she was presented with the Presidential Medal Of Freedom at a star-studded ceremony at the White House on Tuesday.
The comedienne and chat show host couldn’t stop tears from welling up as President Barack Obama fastened the blue-ribboned medal around her neck.
She was still crying as she returned to her seat next to fellow recipient Robert De Niro and the Oscar-winning actor kindly gave her a comforting hug.

First De Niro, 73, put a reassuring arm around Ellen, 58, who appeared grateful for the support.
Then as she leaned into him, he planted a sweet kiss on the side of her head.
The special moment was all caught on camera during the special event that also saw medals presented to Tom Hanks, Diana Ross, Michael Jordan and Bruce Springsteen among others.

It had been quite a roller coaster day for Ellen who had initially been denied entry to the White House because she forgot to take her ID with her.
She posted a snap to social media showing herself waiting on a bench while security checked her out
She tweeted: ‘They haven’t let me in to the White House yet because I forgot my ID. #NotJoking #PresidentialMedalOfFreedom’.

Ellen looked dapper in a maroon plaid suit, black shirt and white-soled sneakers.
DeGeneres was joined at the event by her wife Portia De Rossi, who was dressed in a white top and black skirt with pumps.
The Presidential Medal Of Freedom is for ‘individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors,’ according to the White House.
Still joking: Ellen posted this selfie with Portia afterwards, tweeting: ‘Barack Obama just awarded me the #MedalofFreedom. I hope it serves as an ID. I have no idea how I’m getting home’
